Charlie ByrdBath Signs
Bath Signs, has been trading for over 30 years; supplying local businesses with banners, safety signage, and – since last year - digitally printed clothing and graphics too. It has well and truly established its place in the community, but the journey of Bath Signs hasn’t come without growth too.
After running the accounting side of the business for several years, Charlie Byrd took over the company in 2010. He brought with him not only his financial expertise but the drive to modernise the business, buying new equipment and refreshing the printing services that Bath Signs could offer.
As the company continued to develop and new machinery needed to be purchased, Charlie decided to look for some additional finance to support the business’ upgrades.
“We went to the bank but they wouldn’t give us any overdraft facilities, even though we’ve had money going through our accounts for years,” says Charlie. “They wanted me to jump through hoops and sit down with them for weeks to get anything sorted – it was unbelievable.”
Working with Worldpay Business Finance, Charlie could access the funding he needed through a Business Cash Advance. This is an alternative source of business finance repaid based on an agreed upon percentage of his daily card takings.
“With Worldpay Business Finance, we didn’t have to jump through hoops at all. They really helped us out, and exactly when we needed to buy a big piece of machinery too.”
“We’ve had huge growth over the last year so have been able to push the sales side of the business where we take a lot of payment by card. This has helped us to pay back our advance reasonably quickly and the percentage that we repay doesn’t affect us too much at all. Without a doubt it’s been super flexible, smooth as anything. I am more than happy with it.”
“We’re always looking at new equipment for the business. We could look into getting another t-shirt press in the future, and could use Worldpay Business Finance to fund the purchase without affecting our day to day cashflow.”
